Why should i consider this abortion option?

Your situation and personal choices will determine the kind of safe abortion you choose. Because pharmacological abortions do not require a visit to a doctor’s office, some patients choose for them. You can get your medication abortion at home or someplace else, whenever it is convenient for you. You have the option of getting an abortion alone or with the person you want to be with. Because it mimics a miscarriage, many people think that pharmacological abortion is more “natural” and less invasive. Those who might not have access to a close in-clinic abortion provider can also obtain medicine more easily.

What to expect after termination

Cramps and bleeding

Most people who use this approach usually suffer quite heavy bleeding, and it is normal to pass a few large clots. Bleeding may continue sporadically for a few days or weeks, ranging from little spotting or flow to heavy bleeding that resembles a menstrual cycle. However, please get in touch with AWC immediately if you have not begun bleeding within 24 hours or if you are soaking two or more pads every hour for two hours in a row. Having cramps following this kind of treatment is usual, and they could be much worse than monthly cramps. There will be recommendations for pain management.

Fever, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea.

Call our office right away if, more than 24 hours after taking them, you have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and weakness, with or without fever or abdominal pain. After taking, a temperature of 101° F or higher may be considered normal. About an hour after the bleeding starts, your temperature should return to normal. Drink a lot of water. Get in touch with the clinic if your temperature does not go down in three hours. After day four, if you experience a temperature greater than 100.4°F, please get in touch with our office immediately.

A follow-up appointment

Seven to ten days following your first visit, you will return to AWC for a follow-up vaginal ultrasound. Two to three percent of women who use the abortion option technique will still have pregnancy tissue in their uterus at their follow-up visit, and about one percent will not end their pregnancies. Following the abortion, you will talk about aftercare. You will probably need surgery to complete the abortion if you are still pregnant.
