Zuko women’s clinic provides abortion pills and approved way to end a pregnancy before 10 weeks of gestation without the need to visit a clinic for treatment. Your suitability for treatment will be assessed by a licensed nurse or midwife through a thorough medical evaluation and phone conversation. If the treatment is safe and appropriate, you will receive abortion pills a few days later. Alternatively, we can arrange for you to have another procedure done in the clinic. A scan or other in-clinic tests can be required before treatment.

What Happens After Taking Abortion Pills?

  •  Cramping and bleeding. With this approach, most people may anticipate quite severe bleeding, and passing some large clots is normal. Bleeding can vary from a little flow or spotting to heavier, like a period, and can last for several days or weeks. However, please contact AWC right once if you do not start bleeding within 24 hours or if you are soaking through two or more pads every hour for two consecutive hours. With this kind of abortion, cramping is common and can be far worse than a period. We’ll prescribe painkillers.
  •  Fever, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. These symptoms may occasionally represent an adverse reaction to the abortion medications. If you feel nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or weakness more than 24 hours after taking safe abortion pills, together with or without abdominal discomfort or fever, give our clinic a call right away. After taking abortion medications, a temperature of 101° F or greater may be typical. About an hour after the bleeding begins, your fever should stabilize. Consume a lot of liquids. Call the clinic if, after three hours, your temperature does not subside. After day 4, please contact our office right away if you get a fever that is higher than 100.4° F.
  •   A follow-up visit. A repeat vaginal ultrasound will be performed at AWC 7–10 days following your initial visit. Two to three percent of women who use the abortion pill technique will still have pregnancy tissue in their uterus at the time of their follow-up visit, and about one percent will not terminate their pregnancies. You will talk about your options and future care after the abortion is finished. You will probably require surgery to finish the abortion if you are still pregnant.
  •  Following a Medical Abortion Each person experiences post-abortion cramps and bleeding differently. You might not bleed at all, or you might hemorrhage for two days to four weeks. For a lot of folks, the bleeding sometimes stops and resumes. Spots could persist until your subsequent menstrual cycle. Along with mild to moderate or even severe discomfort, you might also notice that you are passing huge blood clots. This could all be typical.

What is the abortion pills?

The abortion pills actually consists of two medications. The first medication, terminates the pregnancy. It functions by inhibiting the progesterone hormone. The uterine lining degrades in the absence of progesterone, ending the pregnancy.

The second medication, causes the womb to contract, which results in cramps, bleeding, and a pregnancy loss akin to a miscarriage.

Whether the pregnancy is less than or more than 10 weeks gestation will determine what to anticipate. Additionally, it will depend on whether you need to visit the clinic or if you may get your medication and evaluation over the phone.

The use of tablets for abortion therapy via postal service has been authorized by the government. Instead of going to a clinic, this enables customers to take both medications for a abortion up to 20 weeks in their homes.

Abortion Pill Treatments

There are two types of abortion pill treatments:

  • Abortion pill treatment up to 10 weeks
  • Abortion pill treatment from 10 weeks up to 24 weeks

Your treatment options will depend on how many weeks the pregnancy is, your medical suitability and your personal choice.
