Surgical Abortion (In-Clinic Abortion)

What is a Surgical Abortion?

A straightforward and safe in-clinic method of ending a pregnancy is a surgical abortion. Our specialized centers offer surgical abortion methods. This small surgery is provided as a daycare procedure. You don’t spend the night at the clinic. The number of weeks you are pregnant and the anesthetic you select will determine how long you spend at the clinic on the day of your treatment.

How does a Surgical Abortion Work?

Surgical abortion comes in various forms. Your health, the number of weeks you’ve been pregnant, and your personal preferences will all influence the various procedures.

The methods of surgical abortion offered at Zuko WC are:

  • Vacuum Aspiration.
  • Dilatation and Evacuation.

There are also different anaesthetic options, which depend on your health, how many weeks you have been pregnant, and personal choice.

What to Expect After a Surgical Abortion

A Zuko WC staff member will lead you to the recovery area so you can unwind following your surgical abortion. We’ll give you a biscuit and a drink. Our highly skilled staff will take care of you and keep an eye on your recuperation. We will discuss aftercare with you before you leave the facility.

You should schedule a day or two of rest and relaxation. After your surgical abortion, we advised that you remain at home for 24 hours with a trusted adult companion. This is to assist you at home.

Pain Relief After a Surgical Abortion

Following a surgical abortion, you could have cramps that resemble menstrual sensations. To relieve pain or discomfort, you can take medications like paracetamol or ibuprofen. Your medical history will determine the most effective pain management for you. Pain can also be effectively relieved by using a heat pad at home.

Bleeding

Bleeding for seven to fourteen days following the operation is common. For a few days, you might pass little blood clots.

Following a surgical abortion, bleeding may be minimal or as severe as a heavy menstrual flow. The number of weeks you have been pregnant will determine this. Use your own period as a guide for the bleeding. Your heaviest period should never be heavier than the bleeding.

Using sanitary towels until your next period is crucial. You can monitor your bleeding and avoid infection by using sanitary towels. Please contact our Aftercare Line if the bleeding continues for more than two weeks or if you have any concerns.
